So as a Ravens fan I’m kind of on the fence with Lamar but as of today I think he might just get the worse end of not getting a contract done. If I’m understanding correctly (my football management IQ is not the best) he can still be franchise tagged multiple times. With a Quarterback this could cut the prime years of their career out of the equation once the bidding begins on the open market particularly for a Quarterback with his style/skill set.

I know I’m not the most knowledgeable person but this could really blow up in Jackson’s face if he doesn’t go deep into the playoffs, win the division or win another MVP again right? And worse if he gets injured again.

He's betting on himself. Maybe he pulls a Flacco and wins big; maybe he doesn't.

Pretty much the only way this ends badly for Lamar is if he gets injured. Even if he doesn't win big, he's still getting top QB money.
