This team is just unreal.

Nearly half of IU’s main players this year were 0-stars with no Power 4 offers out of high school. That transfer portal has done wonders for em.

They haven't signed a five-star player straight out of high school in program history. They have only two former four-stars in the starting lineup; receivers E.J. Williams and Omar Cooper Jr.

Mendoza was a 2 star prospect. Now he's a Heisman winner going to the natty.

What a story

Not a lot of highly recruited players, but they have a shit ton of 3 and 4 year+ players on that team. Experience/chemistry absolutely matters.

Cignetti is just an amazing coach. He turned James Madison of all programs into a monster before going to Indy (and bringing a ton of his JM players with him).

Indiana's defense is unreal.

That said, Oregon's offense was way off their game. Like, they had issues, we saw that vs Texas Tech. But unforced fumbles, easy to read interceptions... They just looked bad. Like, they haven't looked so horrible at any other time in the season, including their first matchup vs Indiana.

Which brings me back to Cignetti. The guy's a genius in his use of the Portal. He's not looking for potential, he's looking for proof. He wants to know what they are right now, right this second. He's not trying to teach rookies that are just going to skip town the moment they're eligible for the draft. Instead he's going with, "This player is a beast and nobody even knows his name. MINE!"

Guy is brilliant, and if coaching staffs of other teams don't follow suit, Indiana may turn into a dynasty team.
