:( looks like it's over - but I'm not gonna rule out a late season Gronk return for a playoff run, Willie McGinest eluded to this a few weeks ago and he had a good case (he said he could see Gronk missing the start of the season).

not sure without googling, but i can think of several players who have "retired" to come out of retirement to play that same season (or a later season)... Most recently.. Look at Witten.. much older than Gronk. Also i wanna say Antonio Gates did the same thing too (didn't start the year and then the Chargers had a TE injury so he hopped in midseason)? there's plenty of precedent.

don't get me wrong, i'm not saying it's likely, just don't be too surprised if it happens.
