Was expected, but It's still devastating news

Pay him and we can't fill out the roster
Would have been devastating if he got paid lol

People in NE are always willing to restructure. I knew it was hoping for too much, but I was being stupidly optimistic that he might be willing to stay in NE for quite a bit less than he was worth.

e: I'd also prefer us keeping Flowers and moving on from Gronk, which would have made keeping the rest of our key defensive pieces possible.

Needed Hightower to do that, but he didn't accept.
McCourty already did that a couple of years ago, so I understand if the team didn't approach him.

Lost Brown, but Wynn was expected to be the starting LT last year anyways. +3rd pick returning
Lost Flowers, but we added Bennett and I'm assuming another 1 or 2 players on that D-line with money we would have given Flowers. I'm really hoping for Suh. +3rd round pick returning

Bennett is still a pretty dam good pure pass rusher. Something we have needed.

D-Line is really thin though. Need some DTs asap.

I'm pumped on the Bennett signing tbh and we do have plenty of draft picks to work with. We'll be fine, but I'm just bummed. Flowers made such a huge impact whenever he was on the field, the guy was an absolute monster and I loved jumping up and shouting "FUCK YA FLOWERS" multiple times a game. I'm always upset when any guy that talented leaves our roster and like I said, I know it wasn't realistic to keep him, but I was still hoping for a miracle.

I have a weird hunch Adam Butler could be a significant piece of this d-line since he's young and since he was undrafted, we're probably only paying him peanuts 🤣😂 I wonder if we'll retain Shelton or Malcom Brown.

Brown had a very disappointing regular season but stepped it up during the playoffs. He was a monster in the Super Bowl. Unless he is dirt cheap, pretty sure he is gone.
Shelton def gone.

Butler played in 36% of snaps last year. He's already a big piece. I wouldn't mind if it goes up to 40ish% alongside Guy, but would like Suh next to him b)

I still like what we have on D-Line. Simon is versatile. Lawrence Guy is pretty dam good. Wise Jr. is only going to get better. And of course, Bennett pure pass rushing ability. Oh, and Clayborn is good depth too.
I hope Rivers finally gets a chance ^^

Guy is listed as a DE, but he's huge, or at least looks huge on the field compared to other DE's.

I'm a Deatrich Wise fan too

He's a DT. They need to change that.
Lawrence Guy's 90.1 elite overall grade ranked 11th among interior d-linemen in 2018

Quite a good player

pretty sure he was a DE before he came here at least, either way. he's versatile, BB likes those players. I've seen him listed as a DE occasionally but youre right, primarily DT, my bad.
