Tough to say. His playoff stats and his versatility as a player in both the WR/returner roles, should give him a shot imo. He's got 11 less games played than Rice and he's right behind him on receptions, WAY behind on yards lol, he'll never get that #1 spot. Still, being #2 (hopefully #1 in at least one) in receptions/yards all-time for playoffs, is a pretty big deal.

If he somehow managed to play another 11 games, he'd need to average like 80/gameish to pass him up. He's still got a few good years in his tank, so if NE can stay relevant for another few years, it's possible, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Dude, it's not even close. Welker was significantly better than him and he's probably not getting in either.

Edelman has been head and shoulders better in the playoffs, Welker was a fucking jinx in the playoffs. Don't get me wrong, I loved the guy, but he could not catch a fucking 3rd down to save his life when it mattered most.

I don't think either of them will get in, it's outright impossible right now as things stand. I just believe if Edelman manages to be the #1 WR in the playoffs for catches and yards, and he has another couple pretty good regular seasons, he's got a chance at making in in eventually. It's a long shot for sure, but it's a possibility with how prolific he's been in the postseason.

e: Real note though, you guys think Brady makes it in? No chance imo.

Seems that Welker caught 76% of passes (88/116) in the playoffs whereas Edelman caught just 66% of the passes (115/175). Edelman does have a whopping 2.5 YPC more though which is pretty good. I can't find a reliable source on third down conversion rate but I think it's a myth that he is a "playoff jinx." Catching 10% more of your targets is pretty fucking great.

Ask any other NE fan, Welker always came up short when it mattered most. What'd Edelman have, 18 first down catches during this playoff stretch? Then there's that monster catch that was a centimeter above the ground against Atlanta.

You can either trust me on this, or you can go watch every single playoff game and lmk. Boxscore warrioring never tells the story man, you should know that.

e: Just look up welker drops, or welker drops playoff pass, there are multiple huge moments of him screwing up easy catches in different big games (SBs and AFCCGs). The guy was fucking amazing and like I said, I loved him, but he's always come up just a little bit short by missing those ones we absolutely had to fucking have.
