If he's an upgrade over Shaun Cody he can start at the nose a lot faster. I think we'll keep Antonio Smith for at least two more seasons and Watt is a future All Pro. Just no room for him at DE unless he's a rotation player but I want this kid to start. Seems like too much of a beast not to be playing the majority of downs. All we need now is a third quarterback.

the typical NT in wade's system are supposed to be around 6'2", 300 LBs.
Jared Crick is 6'4" and 280 LBs, which is the 5 tech DE size.

We didn't have anyone to rotate with Watt and Smith, we needed depth at DE. Maybe in the future when he gains some weight, 15 LBs or some, they'll move him, but I'm sure we're using him as the DE.

Shaun Cody is pretty solid, he'll be there for another year or so.

I need to get myself a Jared Crick sig soon. This guy is going to be a beast. I'm glad he had a torn pectoral muscle in 2011 or else he wouldn't have fallen to the 4th round. Same injury Mario Williams had and the Bills still paid him that crazy rich contract. He can definitely add on that extra weight to play the Nose in the future.

Trust me, he's going to rotate with Watt and Smith.

I like Ben Jones, but is he going to play at G or C? He isn't fast at all (5.44 40), so he isn't our typical OL player.

Everybody says he's a Watt clone so if true it wouldn't surprise me. Just put him on the other side. I'm just going by his analysis on other sites. They call him a future NT.

He isn't an NT.

He should go well with Tim Jamison, the other DE.

How do you know he isn't a NT though? He seems versatile. Yahoo just had this article on him.

Yahoo Sports - 15 minutes ago

Houston Texans – Jared Crick, DL, Nebraska (126th pick overall) – Probably a second-round pick had he not lost a great deal of the 2011 season to injury, but Crick was medically cleared at the scouting combine, and he's a perfect movable chess piece for Wade Phillips' defensive fronts. He has the ability to play five-tech end and some outside end in four-man fronts, and given Phillips' recent preference for putting lighter guys inside as nose tackles in his one-gap concepts, I could see Crick getting some time there as well. Perfect marriage of player and scheme.

Exactly what I said. Well not the four man fronts part tho. On that we put in Reed/Barwin/Mercilus/Braman and the DTs are the DEs(Watt/Smith/Jamison/Mitchell/Crick).

Did the Texans' 6th-round pick come up yet? Really eager to see who they take with this last selection.
