Great fourth round for the Texans. I like all three picks. After Ben Jones they drafted Keshawn Martin (WR MSU ) and Jared Crick (DT Nebraska). Seems like Keshawn Martin is a more athletic version of Jeff Maehl, can return punts and is a dangerous slot wide receiver (something the Texans never had). And Jared Crick has a chance to become the future starter at Nose Tackle.

I think the writing is on the all to release Jacoby Jones now if it wasn't already. After drafting DeVier Posey and Keshawn Martin, you figure both have a good chance to make the team. With Andre Johnson and Kevin Walter as the 1 and 2, that leaves only one spot for Lestar Jean or Jeff Maehl and I really like Jean's potential.

Maybe the Texans will carry six wide receivers on the active roster this season and not five like they have in the past. I suppose they can keep Maehl on the practice squad if they only go with five - assuming Keshawn Martin beats him out which I think he will. There should be some healthy competition at wide receiver for the Texans entering training camp.

Texans lost Mario Williams and DeMeco Ryans (two pro bowlers when healthy), and yet their defense seems even better without them. Can't even believe I'm writing that but it's true. Wade Phillips is building something special on defense for a long time.

The entire ESPN panel spent the past 10 minutes praising the Texans and even Mel Kiper called them a sexy pick for the Super Bowl this year. They really like their draft. But I'll remain less excited until I see them staying healthy once the season starts. All it takes is one or two key injuries to ruin the excitement like last year. But like I posted before, if the main guys stay healthy (wow!)

No question. There is a reason HOU still played well with a 3rd stringer at QB. The defense is sick! I had questions about Phillips as a head coach, but as D coord. he's a master.

I see the vision of the team now. I'm feeling a lot better after the players they lost this off-season. That's why people kept telling me "wait until the draft."

It's been a good draft already but the Texans still have two more picks left.

Round 5, Pick 26 in round (161 overall)
Round 6, Pick 25 in round (195 overall)

They stlll need a kicker after Neil Rackers signed with the Redskins, and another quarterback after releasing Leinart. A 3rd stringer or backup if the new quarterback they bring in beats out Yates. Seems easier to just sign Vince Young in free agency but I wouldn't mind a 6th-round pick of another hometown guy in Case Keenum if he were still on the board.

I also wouldn't be surprised if they drafted a defensive back (mainly safety) with one of those picks left. They invested into cornerback depth last year by drafting guys like Brandon Harris and Roc Carmichael, so I doubt they'll be going cornerback with these last two picks.

Round 4, Pick 31 (126) Jared Crick DT 6'4" 279 Nebraska. That was his combine listing - video shows him at 6'6 285

Pick Analysis: Jared Crick gives the Texans another hard-nosed defender in the mold of J.J. Watt. He is coming off a torn pectoral muscle, but if fully recovered, he could be a starter at Nose Tackle during his rookie season.

Houston fans will enjoy watching Crick play because he brings the same intensity and high motor that J.J. Watt displays. The two of them playing alongside together on that 3-4 defensive line will be fun to watch. Wade Phillips added two more difference makers to his defense with Whitney Mercilus and Jared Crick.

The Texans' front seven and pass rush will be a strong unit in 2012.

Randy Bullock, Kicker from Texas A&M in the 5th round. Nice pick.

Bingo! Texans got their kicker. Now the 6th round pick is left. Still need a third QB. If not here, then an undrafted rookie free agent signing or Vince Young. Pretty much can see the Texans' entire roster and the options they have left.

Can't wait for the 2012 season to start. I wish it was September already!!!!

Jared Crick is more of a 5 Tech DE.

If he's an upgrade over Shaun Cody he can start at the nose a lot faster. I think we'll keep Antonio Smith for at least two more seasons and Watt is a future All Pro. Just no room for him at DE unless he's a rotation player but I want this kid to start. Seems like too much of a beast not to be playing the majority of downs. All we need now is a third quarterback.
