If you've got a fan purposefully imitating a whistle to try and make players stop, you're being a complete asshole. No idea how you could think otherwise on that.
I guess the way i see it is he’s doing his job as a fan while the home team is on defense. stand up, get loud, and make some noise. On offense, sit the fuck down and be quiet.
What different is whistling than yelling hike! Or random colors and numbers to attempt to audible? Absolutely nothing. If someone near him has a problem they can ask him to stop, but he doesn’t even have to.
And honestly? Imitating a whistle? Yea, he’s whistling. Natural noise. What about the other 50,000 people yelling and clapping and smacking the back of chairs and stomping. You think he’s seriously trying to make players stop? He’s being loud. Yea maybe it was a little annoying on the broadcast, but fuck it. Who cares? It was a consistent whistle, not only when the ball was in mid air so i don’t really see how he’s trying to get players to stop.
Idk, just reminds me of the time I was at Fenway for a sox yanks game and a fellow boston fan asked me to be quiet and sit down, i respectfully declined, and even the yankee fans around me gave the nod of approval. If you don’t want to deal with the crowd, don’t buy tickets to the game.
Sorry not trying to attack you or anything, i just think it’s completely different if you have someone shining lasers at players faces and a guy whistling.
