yea that sounds about right. well MOST of our players lol

Allow me to rephrase: I like the direction Allen is taking the team in. This is the first time in a long time I've liked the direction the team is moving in.

Oakland Raiders coach Dennis Allen can breathe a sigh of relief. He's keeping his job.

Raiders owner Mark Davis confirmed with multiple outlets late Tuesday night that Allen will be back as coach for the 2014 season. Davis told Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times that Tuesday's meeting with Allen "went well" and the coach would be returning for his third season.

"There hasn't been a question about it either," Davis said in reference to Allen's job status.

The shape of Allen's staff should be clarified in the coming days. NFL Media's Mike Silver wrote that the Raiders were offering Allen's assistants only one-year contract extensions, against the urging of Allen and general manager Reggie McKenzie. Silver noted Sunday that offensive assistant Tony Sparano could leave to join Tampa's staff. Allen has only won eight games in two seasons as head coach, but he's done a solid job overall considering the lack of talent on the roster. (Especially at the quarterback position.)

The Raiders were the last team to clarify their head coach's job security. It looks like there will be seven new head coaches in 2014, down one from the eight new coaches in 2013. It is keeping with Raider tradition that we learned Allen's fate at the oddest time possible: Just shy of midnight on a Tuesday, nine days after the season ended.

too bad Sparano left, he was a decent coach. Hopefully this turns out to be a good deal and we see some improvement next year, otherwise it is bye bye allen. Ive said it from day 1 that he needed 3 years given the state of the franchise. If this year doesnt turn out how we want (well ofcourse everyone wants a SB but lets be real that wont happen, maybe a wild card spot?) than it should be over.

I'd be happy to keep Allen if he can turn us into a team that competes every week.
/e
Wildcard is a pretty unrealistic goal, given the number of good teams in the AFC. Broncos, Chiefs, Chargers, Pats, Colts, Texans, Bengals...not to mention the Steelers who had an uncharacteristically bad year.

If we play a whole season and avoid getting blown out twice and can say that we were in a position to win almost every game in the 4th quarter, I'd say that's a big step. Last season we did that through the first half, then after the bye we became a fucking joke.

I think getting closer to .500 would be a realistic goal given your division.
