When will we know?

Well, other teams are allowed to make him offers starting from the 8th, and he's allowed to sign with other teams after the 11th, so hopefully we've tied him down before that.

But as a reporter tweeted, it'd be a good idea for him to test the open market, he's young and one of the best LTs in the league, could hit the jackpot elsewhere.

Other teams will meet and talk secretly with agents before May 8 though. The combine is a good place for GMs and agents to meet, for example.

Miami probably told Monroe's agent more or less what they would offer, and considering Miami has a narrow window in which to win, and considering how they love overpaying players, Monroe will probably be a Dolphin.

Ozzie simply does not overpay players. If the Dolphins want Monroe, they will overpay to get him, just as they did with Wallace and Ellerbe, and Ozzie won't bat an eye as it happens.

I think Ozzie is trying to hammer out a deal, but like mentioned above, if a team offers to overpay Monroe, Ozzie will back out as quick as anything.
