Why don't you like Akers? I find myself avoiding him in mocks drafts by picking a WR instead in the 3rd/4th round. Based on snap % when he returned last year, he could easily be a 20+ carry a game RB

Yeah Thomas at that round has insane upside. If he ends up being a top 5, or even 10 WR the people that avoiding him are going to be sick.

On Akers, it's really the piled up injuries for me. Miles Sanders wasn't mentioned but it's the same with him

At the RB position, I want to limit as much risk as possible (especially with earlier round picks) which is where Akers seems to get picked

If he's healthy you're right though

Akers to me isn't as scary as many others when it comes to getting injured. Based on recent history these guys I'd be more worried/expected to get injured:
CMC/Henry/Ekeler/Mixon/Cook/Barkley/Conner/Swift/Etienne/Dobbins/Kamara/Any Seattle RB/few other lower tier ones. Most of these have been injured more than Akers has & older
Akers is on a high scoring offense, Stafford has a bum elbow rn that may lead to more carries for the RB's, Michel is gone. Henderson has had many opportunities to take the starting role and always loses it
It may be simple enough that a lot of people are sleeping a 1st round production from Akers, including myself. The more I think about it, the more I don't see how he doesn't get 20+ touches a game & consistent touchdowns.
