The NFL has to give 24 hours notice for a drug test so most of these guys do things like cocaine that is out of your system in 24 hours. The league also has very relaxed standards for THC. You need to be caught three times before regular testing starts. And even then it's only every two weeks and as long as your count is going down, you don't get penalized. Fred Davis failed for weed 10 times this season and even though his counts weren't going down as quick as they should be league couldn't do anything.

That said, the number of guys who juiced this offseason is ridiculous. Lockout means that a failed test during that time can't be used to punish you. That's why we saw so many guys tear ACLs and such at the start of the season.

i dont think smoking pot wants to make u go out n play sum football and these ppl got money there that stupid not to try and get it out there system when they do get a 24 hr notice i can get mynes out in the day of the test np

They don't have to get it out the day of. If they fail one test, they have two more tests where all they need to do is smoke less frequently and they'll be considered to have passed. As long as the level is declining, regular testing is not done.
