I think that would mean Jason McCourty's roster spot is secured? makes sense why he was getting reps at safety, probably our #4 safety behind Devin McCourty/Chung/Harmon.

They were obviously going to release him, so they flipped him for something instead of getting nothing.

It happens a lot during this time of the season. He wasn't going to make the 53 man roster and the Falcons liked him enough to not risk somebody else possibly grabbing him off of waivers before them.
