Texans QB Schaub expects to return from injury in better conditionhttp://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexans/2012/03/texans-qb-schaub-expects-to-return-from-injury-in-better-condition/Quote
Schaub concedes he’s hardly ready to buckle his chinstrap and hit the field. The good news, of course, is he doesn’t have to be. And barring an unforeseen setback, there seems to be no question he’ll be honing in on 100 percent in time for the start of training camp. He should even be able to take part to some extent in the organized team activities (OTAs) that begin in May.
Schaub is putting in three to four hours every morning, five days a week, and believes he’ll come up out of the ordeal a better-conditioned athlete, certainly as far as his lower body is concerned. Having overcome the significant muscle atrophy that set in during the month and a half he spent coddling the foot, he’s already to the point where he can say, “Both my legs will definitely be stronger next season than they have ever been.
Schaub admitted what happened to him would have been a whole lot worse for a scrambling quarterback, which he most definitely isn’t. “I think the good thing is the strength of my game is playing within the pocket,” he said. “I don’t need to create a lot of plays on my own by running. I can pretty much guarantee I’ll get back to where I was.”
Matt Schaub is already playing golf and lifting weights. Nice to see him progessing ahead of schedule. He'll be ready for OTAs in May. Should be full speed by training camp in July, the pre-season in August and the regular season in September.
