Anddddd nope. As feared, Sam Barrington looks to be done for the year. Guess we'll be throwing Jake Ryan into the fire a little earlier than anticipated? Des Bishop got any tread left on his tires? lol

Foot injury, placed on IR. Haven't seen anything more specific about the injury.

Had surgery on his hand a few weeks ago. Not sure what his recovery time was

Ryan and Palmer to replace Barrington. Excited to see what Ryan can do but ideally would have liked to work him into the rotation more gradually

They'll still probably work him in somewhat gradually and just have Matthews play a little more ILB in the upcoming weeks.
However, trial by fire isn't always a terrible way to go. A lot of our rookies have performed extremely well in the past in that scenario.

Matthews started and spent a great deal of time at ilb against the Bears. I don't think any rookies aside from Hayward and the aforementioned Matthews have had success on defense as rookies. Dix was above average but he was definitely a more gradual integration
