What synergies do you typically go for

I feel like red or blue would just be so much stronger than others if you're dealing with random cards

Although i havent seen any of the new blocks in many moons

The set features 5 of the 10 guilds (rakdos, azorius, simic, gruul, orzhov). Plus there's several archetypes involving +1/+1 counters, riot, adapt, spectacle, afterlife, guildgate lands, and some other specialized archetypes (one interesting deck uses the card "High Alert" to have your creatures use their toughness as their attack power when attacking. I had fun going 3-0 with that one).

It's sort of all over the place with maximizing flyers, adapt, and guildgate synergies.

Against my final opponent, it came down to a game 3 rubber match. He had to mulligan while I had an absolute dream hand of Azorius Guildmage, Gateway Sneak, Gatebreaker Ram, Gate Colossus, and 3x gates. It was a flawless victory I believe.

Tfw you pull the perfect starting hand

I was due for some good luck after going 0-3 a couple weeks prior. My draws we're awful. One game I scryed through 6 cards and drew 4 cards and still couldn't find a 3rd land.

Im not gonna lie i didnt understand many of the specifics (prob a bunch of newer mechanics) in the previous post.

I last playef when the eldrazi block was the new one. Built a pretty mean colorless deck that I've only ever lost against my own my red/black vampire deck.

But ive never done tourny or anything, just playing with friends

Oh I've never done any tournaments either, nor do I ever plan to. That's beyond my level. I'm just a medium-sized fish in a small pond.

I was as casual as it gets prior to the current Ravnica block. I think I showed up to one of the recent Eldrazi pre-releases, but I think I went winless, which didn't upset me because I had no expectations of winning; was pretty much just there for fun and to socialize.
