FOXBORO -- Former Patriots defensive end Chris Long is donating the rest of his salary this year to increase educational equality.
The current Eagles defensive end gave up his salary in his first six games to provide two scholarships for students in Charlottesville, Virginia. Now, for the rest of the year he will donate his remaining salary to launch the Pledge 10 for Tomorrow campaign.
"My wife and I have been passionate about education being a gateway for upward mobility and equality," Long told the AP. "I think we can all agree that equity in education can help affect change that we all want to see in this country."
The remaining 10 checks will go to organizations supporting educational equity and opportunity in St. Louis, Boston and Philadelphia -- the three cities he's played in.
Long's base salary for this season is $1 million.
