Good history in recent years overall. Look at Favre's backups. Detmer, Brunell, Hasselback, Brooks. Now Rodgers is elite. Flynn Looked good. There was tons of talk about Harrell in the limited camp and preseason. For whatever reason QBs that spend time in GB just end up working out

Does the signing of Harrell indicate that McCarthy may rest Rodgers with the #1 secured?

Of course there's a chance but I don't see McCarthy as the type to do that. He's not going to forget that the Bears played their starters in Week 17 last season and he knows better than to give Detroit or Chicago momentum by letting them into the playoffs.
