They're not in trouble for negotiating with him early, they're in trouble for contract details leaking before today, which is what pissed the league off. They sent a letter to all 32 teams saying so. I'd imagine knowing that makes it less likely that the Phins lose a pick.

Initially the contract was suppose to be 7years/105m, then another rumor at 7years/114m.

We're less than two weeks into March, and I cannot remember an offseason that has been as interesting as this one. You would think the league would enjoy all the extra attention and leave well enough alone.
