If gronk somehow does retire, i wanna see us go after Jimmy Graham if the price is right (he's a FA). He still hasn't won a ring so you gotta think there's some motivation there.

Jimmy can't block.. our line already struggles enough

This is true, but supposedly Dwayne Allen is a really good blocking TE (from what ive heard guys in the know say) so its not like we desperately need 2 blocking TEs. I thought our o line did okay this year.

I still like graham as a receiving TE. Ive seen Graham catch some pretty insane passe from both brees and wilson. He's also a good red zone target.

Ideally i'm praying Gronk plays another few years though lol.

something to keep an eye on before FA:

Could Martellus Bennett play for the Patriots in 2018? It's possible.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, Bennett wants to continue playing despite contemplating retirement last season. The tight end was released by the Packers with a "failure to disclose a physical condition" designation in November before signing with the Patriots. He had a public feud with the Packers training staff about how they handled his injuries.

Bennett said he wanted to have surgery to repair his injured shoulder, but the Packers training staff pressured him to play. After playing in two games with New England, he was placed on injured reserve due to his shoulder, as well as a hamstring injury.

The 30-year-old is due $2 million on March 14 as a roster bonus, so the Patriots will have a decision to make at that time. His cap hit is $6.2 million for the year, so the Patriots could save themselves some money if they were to release him.

Given Rob Gronkowski's uncertainty, perhaps the Patriots would be more inclined to keep him around.

This is Bennett's second tenure with the Patriots, as in 2016 he caught 55 passes for 701 yards and seven touchdowns.

doubt we keep him but who knows

👍😉
haven't been listening much lately, too much baseball/hockey/olympics talk during the NBA all star week, can only take so much of that before I wanna blow my brains out.

also David Harris is retiring. No loss at all. (unsurprisingly) disappointing FA pickup.

I would imagine Lewis is going to want more money than the pats will be willing to give considering their stable of rbs.

you definitely could be right, we already gave decent contracts to James White and Rex Burkhead last year (I believe each are making over $3 million a year) so it may be challenging to keep Lewis. It may come down to if he wants to play/stay/live in New England or not as to whether he leaves (obviously he will get significant more $ elsewhere).
