I agree with the last part but it’s still garbage that he went through the interview process and gave the colts false hope. Now they’re going to hire someone’s plan b or c. These things should be settled before coordinators interview. They either stay or try to get a hc gig. No in between. Just childish by both parties and their indecision.
I do agree that it was handled poorly by NE, but the only thing that makes sense to me for why it happened, is that BB is going to be transitioning out. If that's not the case, and BB just snagged him at the last minute to fuck over Indy, then ya, that's super fucked up and a dick move. I just don't think that's the case, because that's not something they've ever done with trades or letting their guys go places, they've always been pretty straight forward about that kind of shit. Maybe the stress from this SB was just too much for BB and maybe he just didn't fucking enjoy it anymore. He could have told Bob after the game that he was done, Bob begs him to stay until they find a replacement and then the idea of getting Josh to come back with the promise of him taking over in 1-2 years after a full transition has been situated is made.
We just can't know at this time, but if BB leaves in the next 2 years and Josh takes over, you can be 100% sure this was the case, but if BB sticks around and Josh takes another HC job somewhere else in a year or two, it was just Josh not wanting to go to Indy and he was a dick about it.
Edit : And the Pats were dicks for facilitating Josh's dickery, if that's what went down.
