My round 1 winners and losers
Winners
Jacksonville Jaguars
This one is easy. Snatching arguably the best player in the draft (not my best player but still, consensus) at 5 who was also atop their draft board and will step in, fill a need and contribute immediately, you can't really say anything negative about it. He's listed as a CB on the draft tracker so I assume that they'll play him at corner which I think is a mistake. He can be an elite safety or an above average corner which I'm sure the Jags will be happy with either and he'll probably float around a lot but still an awesome pick.
Miami Dolphins
Again, arguably the best player in the draft and they get him at 13. I heard they are planning on using Tunsil at guard which is off to me. Take Branden Albert's ass and throw him in at guard and let Tunsil take over the LT spot. Albert will be injured by week 3 anyway so at least Tunsil won't have to move positions during the season this way.
New York Jets
Todd Bowels is going to have a field day with Darron Lee. That's all I have to say about that one.
Cincinnati Bengals
I love William Jackson III but the Bengals aren't winners for drafting him, they're winners for missing out on these mediocre wide receivers. I know they desperately wanted to snag one of the receivers and when they all flew off the board before them they missed out. Luckily there are plenty of options available and I wouldn't be surprised to see them trade up to get Michael Thomas, WR, Ohio State in the second round.
Losers
Houston Texans
They didn't give up much to move up 1 pick but they did get fooled. The Skins never had interest in Will Fuller, they have that already in DeSean. The only thing I can think of is the Vikings wanted to leap the Texans so they called the Skins, the Skins called the Texans and the Texans made a better offer but still, don't like the move even if it didn't cost them much, it didn't seem necessary.
San Francisco 49ers
It's difficult to put the Niners here because picking Buckner was a solid move but trading back up to get Garnett, someone who would have been there for them in round 2 was just silly. I understand that they have a shit ton of picks so they had plenty of ammo to spare to secure the guy they wanted and I love Garnett but he's not a first rounder and with so many holes on that roster, the Niners could have used all of those draft picks to try and fill those gaps.
i feel like the vikings are a winner too.. 3 wide recievers picked ahead of treadwel..
