Legitimately surprised by letting Hawk go. I really expected them to keep him for the final year of the contract.

"I spent nine great years in Green Bay. I had awesome teammates and coaches and a great medical staff and equipment staff. Many of them have become my closest friends. We won a ton of games, as well as a Super Bowl, and I loved everything about playing for one of the greatest franchises in all of sports... I am looking forward to my next opportunity in the NFL, but I’ll always cherish my years as a Green Bay Packer."

God dammit. I don't care what anybody says, Hawk was a great Packer.

You'll still get to see him twice a year as a Viking, crash. No worries.

I doubt it was any easy decision, but Hawk said they've been transitioning for a while now so it wasn't a surprise. Hawk may not have been the most gifted ILB, but his IQ was off the charts and his ability to keep others in position and set up the defense was remarkable.

Tough as nails. Only missed two games in his career, which includes the bone chips this season and a badly torn groin a few years ago.

Of the 32 first round picks that year, only 7 are with the team that drafted them. I don't care how much more people expected out of him, if you tell me the guy I take at #5 overall will start for 9 seasons, only miss two games, and never really make big mistakes, I'll take him everytime.

Crash's post count will go down about 100posts on average from here on out simply by not being able to comment on Hawk losing his helmet
