Am infact gonna remain with this mindset. You aren't stating an opinion, you are saying AiC is shit without Layne. Disagree, fundamentally disagree, and the album sales would also disagree for Black Gives Way To Blue and this new one.
You bash DuVall for no reason other than being elitist. I absolutely understand and respect that Laynes boots cannot be filled, but to bash the entire band for the amazing accomplishments SINCE his untimely passing is just stupid - especially given the success of past 2 albums.
Also - Jerry plays a significant role in the popularity back then AND now - it's never been just about Layne.
Shouldn't be so elitist towards a band who refuse to sell out and continue to evolve without loosing their roots.

DuVall doesn't sing the say way Layne did, but I think in part that is why they picked him. I understand that they wanted to maybe go for a new sound but I'm just not a fan of DuVall and I know a lot of people that I talk to who like Alice in Chains agree.
I talked to like 9-10 people from Rock on the Range and everyone said Soundgarden blew Alice in Chains out of the water.
It just isn't the same without Layne Staley on stage. I know the band did everything they could to a point Layne in a direction to be sober or at least sober of opiates. But in the end we all know what happened.
I really respect Jerry in more than just his guitar playing ability, I respect that he got fucked up for a decent amount of his life then got sober and isn't about to die on deaths bed.
I also love the harmonies Layne and Jerry can do together. Here is a perfect example:

Personally I like Mike Starr better but I think Mike Inez is a better overall bassist. I could be completely wrong though.
