Should have bolded the unintelligent part I guess.

"A lot of those other countries, their best athletes only play soccer.". LOL.

Spain - Rafael Nadal, Fernando Alonso?
UK - Lewis Hamilton, Andy Murray?
Serbia - Most successful basketball nation, Djokovic?
Germany - Sebastian Vettel...

I'm sorry but only a retard (American) would think that other countries ONLY play football. Yes, football is a major sport for most nations, but many of these football nations have dominated other sports like tennis, basketball, rugby, formula 1, etc, etc.

Basketball is one of the largest sports in America, yet Serbia, a tiny country has won more FIBA world cups than they have. Even after NBA athletes being allowed, the champions have been Serbia, Serbia, Spain and USA.

All in all USA is a nation of 320 million people, even if only 5% of of the country plays football that's more than the entire population of some countries (Uruguay, two time world cup winner, population 3 million). It would only be embarrassing if the USA didn't have athletes at world level.

love when rejects toss out that uruguay has 2 world cups

the 1930 cup had 13 teams and they had to beg europe to join them. but please, continue to point out the relevance of "per capita" medals while ignoring the fact that uruguay not only hosted the first world cup, but was honestly one of only seven teams that even seemed to care about the tournament

1950 is even better. germany wasn't allowed to compete, japan wasn't allowed to compete, and argentina/equador/peru all withdrew themselves lol

nothing like kids who try to nit pick at the number of medals the US wins and then toss out ignorant blanket statements like "look how many world cups uruguay has"

are you really trying to argue that andy murray is even close to one of the best athletes in the UK?!?!?! there are hundreds of average soccer players that are 4 times the athlete murray is. Djokovic is another example- sure he is extremely fit for a tennis player- but when you try and move that fitness and athletic ability to a sport that requires WAY more, you find that it's relatively average

tennis players are some of the fittest athletes on the planet...

you show me another athlete that performs ALONE for 3+ hours every other day for 2 weeks at a time (the top guys reach the second week or nearly every grand slam event)

i'm not saying they are the fittest on the planet, but they are most certainly up there

Just depends on how you look at it. I'd rather quickly move a few feet in any given direction for 3 hours than be sprinting up a down a field for 90 minutes with minimal rest, or continuously moving to not be punched (while expending energy throwing your own blows).

Soccer players are extraordinarily fit, tennis players are pretty fit, but boxers probably outdo everyone.

i find it funny that it's fourth or so on our list of sports, i can't imagine what some of our athletes could do in soccer. Aside from the goalie, they looked like children compared to them waffle makers.

4th? LOL

Soccer is not 4th on the list of US sports, not even close rofl.

Football, basketball, baseball, hockey, and nascar are all well above it. I'd say golf is too

Shit, could probably list more.

agree that each sport has it's own difficulties and endurance issues

stamina and endurance wise some of them are, but that's totally different than having to physically jockey against other athletes consistently.

you mean in a sport where 30 carries over 3 hours is considered a lot? a sport where covering a total distance of about 150 yards a game is considered a lot?

sure, keep telling yourself that

You're not springing for 90 minutes. The guys who take a lot of sprints typically don't go all the way back to defend either, so they're really not moong constantly.

New opera mobile sucks. I'm not fixing the typos
