I was just talking to a friend via PM, and I thought I would C&P this little tidbit that I wrote:
I was watching one of our games and an announcer said that we literally have the worst record from 2003-present. Literally. No team has performed in such a consistently abysmal manner. 32nd in the league. And I can tell you that I remember that in the 1999 season, in Week 12, we played against the Cincinnati Bengals for the worst team of the 1990s, and only barely managed to escape that title as well. I was 11 in 1990, so pretty much all of my football watching life (with a 2 year exception) has involved me being enamored of one of the worst teams in the league.
And I add for you, my NFL forum brethren and especially my fellow Rams fans - this is the heart of Football. Whether you fell in love because of the Greatest Show on Turf, because you're from St. Louis or LA, or for whatever reason you're a Rams fan - this is football. Loving a butt-ugly team that shits the bed season after season and continuing to put a little of our heart and soul into that team is part of the game. And really, at the end of the day, I think it has a chance to help test us and turn us into more gracious people than the fans of teams that are successful all the time. We have to learn a bit of humility and a bit of grace. We have to learn how to lose with our heads held high and hold out hope for next year.
God bless the underdogs, and tl;dr.
Bump for all the fans of shitty teams and because I'm dumb enough to think someone's going to wade through that wall of text.
