To be clear, I'm not bashing the Pats, nor am I anti Pats. Brady's the greatest QB of all time, and BB is the greatest coach of all time (Sorry Chuck). I can understand why there are so many pats haters though. Pats fans are blind to the bias that happens from the refs and get all defensive. It's there.. Does that mean that NE isn't still a great team? No. Just the fact that the fans can't acknowledge that there are so many calls that go in your favor because you're the Pats leads to Pats bashing.

I just find it funny that Pats fans would even try to lay the groundwork for excuses in upcoming games by pointing out that the refs are going to be against them! This is the ref that made one call against us! He's going to be out to get us! Then, if we make it to the SB, there's going to be a newbie in there! He's not going to know how to make calls in our favor properly! THAT'S why I posted about Riveron.

I just watched the brandin cooks TD you're referring too... dan fouts on the call even says "both feet in, ball controlled, all the way to the ground" ... not to mention he never bobbled the ball, he just didn't have the best grip on it but find me a replay where he loses control, he never does. You try to say you're not "anti pats" but you're poor argument says otherwise. Move along.

What, exactly, does the bolded part mean? What is it that you would like Pats fans to acknowledge? That Riveron has instructions from the league office to make calls that help the Patriots get to the Super Bowl? That referees are humans and thus influenced by perception, giving successful players the benefit of the doubt (like Michael Jordan being allowed to push off Bryon Russell on his final great shot)?

My first thought as to why that can happen is simply because it is an imperfect system. Every season, you are going to have some teams who have more blown calls go in their favor than those that go against them. That's just natural statistical variation. If a team like the Cardinals or Redskins happens to have a bunch of mistakes in their favor, no one is going to notice. But if the same anomaly happens to the Patriots, then it is visible and becomes a meme.

Not a coincidence.

How come no one accused the Bengals of using deflated balls in the 2015 AFC championship game? Because they weren't in the game therefore they weren't eligible to be scrutinized.

The same concept applies to both the Patriots and Lance Armstrong. If you do the same thing that all your competitors do but you win a lot, then people end up caring only about what you did. That's because no one else is being investigated, not because you are doing anything different.
