NFL free agency: The top remaining players
Potential difference-makers
1. Andre Smith, OT: The longer this goes, the better chance he will re-sign with the Cincinnati Bengals.
2. Brent Grimes, CB: Coming off a torn Achilles tendon makes Grimes a difficult player to evaluate, but the talent is there.
3. Antoine Winfield, CB: Tough as nails and versatile, Winfield is a perfect short-term addition for a contender.
4. Fred Davis, TE: Like Dustin Keller, Davis is coming off an injury-plagued year. Unlike Keller, there are big off-the-field concerns. Either the Cleveland Browns or the Washington Redskins should get Davis.
5. Brandon Moore, G: He can start 16 games at a cheap price.
Starters with questions
6. Ahmad Bradshaw, RB: Teams might wait until Bradshaw is fully healthy this offseason to sign him.
7. Dwight Freeney, DE: The New England Patriots could sign him in an Adam Vinatieri-in-reverse type of move. The Denver Broncos are interested as well.
8. Richard Seymour, DL: He wants big money and could wait out teams looking for an injury replacement in camp.
9. Nnamdi Asomugha, CB: The San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints are the two most likely landing spots for Asomugha.
10. Eric Winston, OT: He may have to wait for Smith to sign.
11. James Harrison, LB: He's not getting a ton of interest, and could wind up back in Pittsburgh.
12. The wheel of starting kickers: A few kickers have signed, but Jason Hanson and Steven Hauschka still are out there.
Role players
13. Israel Idonije, DE: He doesn't fit in every system, but he should make a nice third DE for some team.
14. Beanie Wells, RB: The Pittsburgh Steelers checked out Wells' knee. There are big health concerns here.
15. Daryl Smith, LB: Teams don't pay linebackers over 30 who don't rush the passer.
16. John Abraham, DE: He's battling Freeney for a potential job with the Broncos.
17. Bryant McKinnie, OT: Like Seymour, McKinnie could be a late addition in the offseason for a team in need.
18. Brandon Lloyd, WR: There's a solid chance he'll return to the Patriots because he won't have a huge market.
19. Mike Jenkins, CB: It's really not hard to find a cornerback this year. It's hard to find a really good one.
20. Sedrick Ellis, DT: I'm surprised some coach out there doesn't think he can turn around Ellis' career.
21. Felix Jones, RB: He'll get a job, but there's no guarantee he'll have much of a role.
22. Charles Woodson, S: If the 49ers don't bite, we're not sure where Woodson could land.
23. Brian Urlacher, LB: The Chicago Bears were unable to reach a contract agreement with Urlacher for 2013. He's going to have a hard time finding a starting job.
24. Victor Butler, LB: He showed flashes of serious pass-rush potential on the Cowboys.
Best of the rest: Karlos Dansby, LB; Julian Edelman, WR; Michael Turner, RB; Kerry Rhodes, S; Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR; Kevin Kolb, QB; DeAngelo Hall, CB; Shaun Phillips, OLB; LaRod Stephens-Howling, RB; Dawan Landry, S; Ronde Barber, CB/S; Nick Barnett, LB; Kevin Walter, WR; Peyton Hillis, RB; Michael Boley, LB; Takeo Spikes, LB; Tracy Porter, CB; Cedric Benson, RB.
