News now! Both starting guards miss practice

GREEN BAY — Coming out of their bye week, the Packers are getting healthier at a number of positions, but one area in question is the offensive line.
Starting guards T.J. Lang (ankle) and Josh Sitton (toe) both missed practice on Wednesday, and their availability for Sunday’s game against Chicago is in doubt.
Lang got hurt early in the New Orleans game on Oct. 26. Sitton injured his big toe in that same game but played through it and finished, something Head Coach Mike McCarthy complimented him on given the severity of the injury.
“He’s making progress,” McCarthy said. “We’ll see what he can do in practice tomorrow.
“You take your hat off to him for finishing the game. The fact he played through that is very impressive.”
McCarthy preferred not to get into the specifics of who might replace Lang or Sitton if either or both can’t play on Sunday. The Packers’ backup options at guard include Lane Taylor, who filled in for Lang against the Saints, plus Garth Gerhart and the recently activated JC Tretter.
Elsewhere on the injury report, the Packers are in good shape. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers (hamstring) was a full participant in practice and McCarthy said he looked good. Also, safety Morgan Burnett (calf), cornerback Sam Shields (knee) and defensive end Datone Jones (ankle) were all full participants. The three defensive starters missed a combined six games before the bye — Burnett one, Shields two and Jones three.
