That's what he was saying, Ted Thompson is smart and he won't pay him a bunch if he know's he wont try which is why he was saying we probably won't see him back in Green and Gold.
Exactly. If I had to pick one thing that TT is known for, it's his belief that you let FAs walk unless you can resign them cheap and if they leave, replace them with young guys that you've drafted and developed, and that's especially true with McCarthy since he holds the same belief. I'd really like to see Finley come back and I know he truly wants to, but he's always seemed like the type of guy who wants big money. What really worries me is that between the other TEs on the roster, they've only combined for four catches, whereas Finley is second on the team with 25. As long as Aaron Rodgers is around it's not too much of a concern, because he can spread the ball around and has a well of young talent at WR, but it's still concerning that we could lose one of the best TEs in the game.
Rodgers and the receivers were featured on the cover of the latest Sports Illustrated. Hopefully the cover curse is a thing of the past...
Speak of Rodgers, he spoke about a contract extension this week. Said he's not really worried about it, but that he wants to retire as a Packer.
He also said he expects Clifton to play again before the end of the regular season. Clifton and Neal were the only guys that didn't practice today. McCarthy said a little while ago today that Clifton is still a few weeks away from a return, but that Neal is expected to finish rehab this week and begin rejoining practice activities next week. I'd guess we see him return to the field either against the Bucs, or on Thanksgiving against the Lions.
Alex Green spoke about the last game, and how upset he was, because he was supposed to get more time on the field. The Packers had set up a few specific packages for him that they didn't get a chance to use.
Green Bay leads the NFL in PPG for offenses. For the first time ever, they have scored 24 points in each of their first seven games. Any time you accomplish a first in a franchise that's been around this long, it's a big deal.
Packers rank 31st in Passing yards/game, but 10th in rushing yards/game (defensively). Yet they are still 9th in ppg against. Defense is clutch and we know that, now we just need to see them really shut an offense down as we start to hit the tail end of the regular season. I really believe that the defense is improving, and I expect to see them playing very hard. Dom Capers doesn't put out bad defenses, and we are going to see their rankings improve as we go on.
