He played surprisingly well last year, but he's declining, albeit only slightly. Kind of had to expect it from a guy who's turning 32. Can't cover as well as he used to
Of course he's declining, but he still could have helped us greatly. A very experienced Vet LB, who could still clearly play the game at this level. Our LB depth right now is just bad.
We have Geno Hayes (don't get me wrong, hes been solid, but he is what he is) playing the Will as a 2 down LB, with Rookie Telvin Smith coming in at the Will in Nickel situations (better at Coverage because of his great speed, but he's an inexperienced rookie who is pressing/learning still).
Poz is obviously the Mike, he's definitely solid, but he's overpaid and isn't getting any younger. J.T Thomas is his backup... Enough said..
At the Otto LB position (basically the Sam backer, but a little different) we have LaRoy Reynolds and Dekoda Watson. Both have got a chance to start at the position this season, only to get benched (far too many mental errors and missed tackles) in favor of J.T Thomas this past week. Needless to say, he didn't show much of anything either at the position. Granted, we played mostly Nickel this past week against the Chargers, but still. This is our most pressing LB position right now imo. Something needs to change here quick and I think Arthur Brown would be a good fit. Daryl would have been ideal for our Otto as well.
We also have a rookie named Jeremiah George who we pulled from, I wanna say the Dolphins practice squad like a week ago. Again, enough said there..
