This Defense is the real deal. It has play makers at every level.

It's all going to depend on the Offense though. Bortles has to keep playing solid football and limit the mistakes.

The OL has to get healthy (it's been doing ok with patch work atm) and the run game has to stay strong. As long Bortles doesn't have a break down and throw 2 pick sixes, or the Special Teams doesn't have another blunder and give up 17 points like they did vs the Rams. This Defense will absolutely keep us in every game.

Edit: We're currently #3 in the AFC and I'd agree with that. Pats and Steelers being ahead of us of course.

You don't just put numbers up like that. Ofc they are for real.
You said it yourself, your QB might even be harming your defense at times. Still that good...
Limit that -- watch out

The reason I disagree with that statement is because those AFC games are going to be at home. Since 2007, Brady is 53-2 when hosting AFC teams (one of those losses was a week 17 game resting starters). Overall in his career, he's 17-3 at home in the playoffs. His ability to win at home is so obscene, it's a wonder that he hasn't been suspected of trying to cheat or something.

If the Pats drop a few games and end up with a lower seed than the Jaguars, then we can start talking about being worried. If it were possible to play them at a neutral site, then it would be a conversation. But the way things are currently set up, worrying about losing at home to the Jags is as silly as worrying that the '07 team could lose to a mediocre Giants team.

If you keep rolling d20s, you are eventually going to roll a 1. But it's silly to actively worry about it.

That's exactly it.
@home, I seriously don't fear any team. Call it cocky, but I don't see a reason to..please don't bring up Ravens, Jets etc...I know we've lost before lol
A game away in the playoffs to me can go either way any day. I don't care who is on the field
SPECIFICALLY if the home team has a secondary and a pass rush...communication is almost impossible at times come playoffs
That was a huge factor in Denver
That place is fucking LOUD

Maybe you should quote the reply that my bottom quote was responding to. It was in response to aniema asking for another example for a team with a dominating defense winning the Super Bowl during Brady and Belichick era...

And I'm not losing my shit. You just think you know EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING.

I'm done wasting my time here. All you're going to do is try and twist my words like usual. You were wrong. Deal with it.

What was I wrong about? I said your defense wasn't as good as a defense that won a SB two years ago.... For you to actually prove me wrong, the Jags would need to win the SB. I guess we'll see how that pans out pretty soon. Oh ya, exactly how I tried to end this conversation before you quoted me talking to someone else with more insults.

Really the only major blunder Bortles has had this year, was in the final 2 minutes vs the Chargers. But he also threw the ball 51 times and that can't happen.

The national opinion on Bortles is that he's awful and we're winning games in spite of him, but that's not true. Hes played some solid football and has been the reason we have won a couple games this year.

Never said you should be worried, simply that you shouldn't just be looking straight past them.

This the Patriots fan thread, not Josh McDaniels' meeting room.

We come here to have fun speculating about stuff that is actually interesting. If we tried to talk about home games against AFC teams, there would be nothing interesting to post about.

Okay man...he’s pretty bad and jags will be drafting a qb or trying to lure cousins. Don’t be ridiculous

I agree with you jags defense is insane and they’re undercutting it. And I was a huge hater earlier in the season, but your quarterback is a liability

51 times for Bortles cannot happen. At that point the coach is making him fail
Wtf lmao
As I stated, haven't watched much Jags at all, so I can't even judge Bortles this season. But I am aware of his past ofc
But with a defense like that, all you're asking from the guy is to be solid. Surely capable...

Never said we wouldn't draft a QB. I believe we will. Just because we draft one doesn't mean we have to throw him out there on day 1.

I don't see this team giving Cousins the record breaking contract he'll want. We have too many other players who are going to need to get paid this off season and next off season etc.
