Alright fellow Giants buzzins. Real talk.
What are your thoughts on this team?
I, myself, believe Tom Coughlin has let this team down all season. He doesn't field the best team, he doesn't get his team ready, and most importantly he doesn't seem to know what he's doing anymore.
He continues to start Markus Kuhn and gives him way too much playing time when the guy should have been cut in camp. Instead he cut Kenrick Ellis who was the second best defensive tackle on our roster at the time.. He outperformed all but Jay Bromley in camp and preseason. And now, Jay Bromley, who all year has been our best defensive tackle, isn't even starting when we are without Hankins. It's inexcusable.
And Damontre Moore is one of our more talented defensive linemen.. yet he rarely sees the field, at least early in the season. I don't condone his undisciplined play, but I feel part of that is because he hasn't played much. That's on Coughlin as well.. Playing defensive tackles at end.. and they wonder why our pass rush has been shit all year. At this point, you have got to keep him off the field though. Cut him, do something.. because he is a poison to this team as long as Coughlin is the coach.
I also feel that our offense is being held back for some reason. Again, idk what Coughlin is doing but he needs to tell McAdoo to run the ball. And not the dinky run plays they've been running all year. Get a fullback out there, get some steam behind the backs and power it in there. Let our offensive line get some semblance of consistency. Let them attack..instead of quick passing. Our line would be much better if they could attack, their pass blocking would improve as well and give Eli time to pick apart the defense. Right now, that just isn't happening. Even on short passes, the pass rush is affecting him.
As far as the back end of our defense, our corners are solid..just forced to play a little safe with our current safeties. All our safeties are liabilities in pass coverage, but that's what Reese gave them. Collins is no more than a two down safety right now, but he will improve and has shown flashes of what he can be. Just gets lost in coverage too often. They need to stop playing man with opposing tight ends using Craig Dahl. Guy is terrible.
All that being said, we have the best player in the NFL in OBJ and I believe we will finish 3-1 and idk where those 3 wins will be, but one of them will have to be week 17 against Philadelphia. Let's hope we can turn it around against them or we're pretty much done.
