Ed Reed is still seeking a two-year deal worth $12 to $14 million. He wants $6 to $7 million in base salary. The Texans current offer is one year $4.8 million.

Ed Reed still believes that even at soon to be 35 years old, that he's still worthy of a big pay day. What makes me scratch my head is didn't Denver just sign Wes Welker to a 2-year deal worth $12 million? I hope we can get him signed for something less than he wants otherwise good luck to the Ravens if they're willing to pay him $6 or $7 million a year. They did give Joe Flacco his own personal bank so perhaps they'll over-pay to keep a franchise icon and 9-time pro bowler.

Phil Dawson to the 49ers. I hope he does well, he deserves it.

If the Ravens are not going to shell out the big bucks to keep Ed Reed and the Texans can't close a deal...

Where else is Ed Reed going to go? The teams with the most salary cap space right now are not going to sign an aging safety past his prime.

The only other logical options are the 49ers and Patriots, neither of which, is going to offer much more than the Texans are willing to go.

Texans are supposedly offering 3yrs/12 mil, which is probably more than what the Ravens are offering.

His veteran leadership and what he brings to the team other than what he does on the field. The Texans need more tough-minded players like him if they want to win the Super Bowl, much less reach the big game. With Brian Cushing coming back, along with Ed Reed, I think our defense will become a solid unit again. We still need to add a nose tackle and another inside linebacker in this draft. But players like that you can't place a value on. It would be like Ray Lewis and Ed Reed on the Ravens last year. Neither was a pro bowler but when they came back from injury they elevated the entire defense.

Three years! My gosh. Will he even play after this season?

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/19/report-texans-offer-reed-three-years-at-4-million-per-year/

Report: Texans offer Reed three years at around $4 million per year

The Texans and the agents for safety Ed Reed met again in Phoenix, but reports are that they aren’t any closer to a deal.

Both men also agree that Reed is looking for more money, in the $6-7 million range, and that appears to be more than the Ravens are willing to pay as well. If Reed is only going to sign a contract that pays him around the same amount he made last year — $7.2 million — he could be waiting a while to wind up on a team for the 2013 season.

If that’s the case, the Texans and Ravens might both move on to other safety options and leave Reed with even less appealing offers if he’s going to keep his career going.
