Awareness can lessen the chance of it happening again.
I think it's a good rule because it stops the play if both parties fail to react to the ball/or if both players perceive the play to be over.
i understand the rule. the NE player was making a clear recovery when the whistle was blown, making it an easy call to award NE the ball.
had hillman just fell on the ball, it wouldnt have mattered at all and probably wouldve never been reviewed, and at worst they wouldve lost a few yds.
if the whistle wouldve blown before the NE player reacted on the ball, id understand your point.
hillman was walking away before the whistle had blown and the NE player wasnt.
