Wright Set To Earn At Least $1.5 Million

Might Wright become draft-day trade bait?

Now Joe still doesn’t know how much, if any, guaranteed money Eric Wright miraculously got from the Bucs to restructure his contract this evening.

So there’s more to learn, but according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, via ProFootballTalk.com, Wright’s new deal for 2013 is worth a minimum of $1.5 million and up to $3 million.

Joe is not pleased or soothed by the Wright signing, but Joe is withholding judgment and a full blown commentary until Joe knows whether Wright can be cut without significant financial consequences to the Bucs. And Joe wants to know more about Wright’s deal to determine whether he could be legitimate draft-day trade bait.

UPDATE: Joe has learned that there are no guarantees in Wright’s new pact. He can be released at any time through training camp with no penalty to the Bucs.

What does this smell like? A no guarantee contract offer of which Bucs can release him for any reason at any point throughout training camp - this is clear trade bait, or failing that, simply a massive underpay for the CLEARLY best CB on the roster.

lol though - $6mill paycut with no guarantees  Serves his ass right

He deserves a huge cut for his shitty tackling against the Saints in TB last year. Truly embarrassing.

Not sure that Schiano will let him get away with it this year - he may be "loosening up" on the team, but I expect him to be well on Wrights case

Not only are the Bucs banking on Da’Quan Bowers taking the NFL by storm with a double-digit sack season, they’re first banking on him slithering through the New York City court system and coming out clean.

Bowers is back in court tomorrow in Queens. He’s still on the docket, and his Feb. 18 charge is the same — criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a felony that carries a minimum sentence of 3 1/2 years.

Though there is no official designation of tomorrow’s proceedings, it appears to be an arraignment. Joe was told by a New York court official that Bowers must be in court by 9 a.m., where he will wait for his name to be called among about 60 defendants scheduled for the same court.

Fingers crossed for a slap on the wrist and fine

Well with 60 cases to do in one day, perhaps the judge will move it along quickly by being lenient, so the defense doesn't clog up his court room for the whole day ><

its just an arraingment... all you really do is go t court they tell you what your being charged for and let you be on your way as well as give you a date for your preliminary hearing.

So now the Jets are trying to push off Sanchez on us to come with the Revis trade..... Yeah ok, and you guys give up your 1st 2nd and 3rd rounders for making us take him. Seriously. -.-

I would rather have Tebow - I will be very cross if we get sanchez.

Interesting idea :o

stone (tampa): why not hold off on revis and trade up for milliner this year, then attempt a trade for revis later in the season for next years pics after we have seen revis in action still knowing the jets dont want to resign him, that is if we would even need revis at that point?

Pat Yasinskas: That’s something I think Bucs should at least consider. No guarantee Milliner is going to be anywhere near as good as a healthy Revis. But Revis may not be the same guy he was before. Cost of getting Milliner also would be less — both in draft picks and salary.

Paying Revis 15+ million a year then paying Sanchez 8+ million a year would put this team in a bad situation quick.

Not to mention the fact that it's Mark Sanchez. Sheesh.
