Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips to undergo kidney procedurehttp://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexans/2011/12/texans-wade-phillips-is-taking-medical-leave-of-absence/Quote
Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips said after practice today he will undergo a procedure on his kidney and has been told by doctors that he can return to work in a week to 10 days.
Phillips didn’t say exactly what the procedure is but did say it’s not cancerous or life-threatening. He said he’ll also have his gall bladder removed at the same time.
“I felt sick about a week ago,” Phillips said. “I want to get this taken care of so I can get back. I’ve been getting way too much credit. This is a team thing, and they’ll do well without me, and I should be back ready to go for the Tennessee game.”
Phillips’ absence means linebackers coach Reggie Herring will be the next man up for the Texans.
So now we lost Wade Phillips for the next two games against the Panthers and Colts - two games that will be played over four days (Sunday and Thursday). How many more hits will the Texans keep taking? Unbelievable. The injury report isn't just limited to the players on this team.
And there was talk of Wade Phillips wanting another head coaching job after this season. It was reported on Monday that Wade Phillips will be interested in any head coaching vacancies and that a few NFL teams will be interested in him. I hope Bob McNair gives him a hefty pay raise. He was already the highest-paid defensive coordinator in the league, but to assure he stays, he'll have to get a salary that is equal to what Gary Kubiak is making.
Inb4 the "win one for the gipper speech" and the Texans blow out the Panthers and Colts, giving Wade Phillips the game ball.
Reggie Herring will get the job done. Next man up!!!!!
