I liked the nickname "Steel Blue Curtain" but Connor Barwin had a fan poll and Bulls on Parade won.

Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips to undergo kidney procedure

http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexans/2011/12/texans-wade-phillips-is-taking-medical-leave-of-absence/

Quote
Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips said after practice today he will undergo a procedure on his kidney and has been told by doctors that he can return to work in a week to 10 days.

Phillips didn’t say exactly what the procedure is but did say it’s not cancerous or life-threatening. He said he’ll also have his gall bladder removed at the same time.

“I felt sick about a week ago,” Phillips said. “I want to get this taken care of so I can get back. I’ve been getting way too much credit. This is a team thing, and they’ll do well without me, and I should be back ready to go for the Tennessee game.”

Phillips’ absence means linebackers coach Reggie Herring will be the next man up for the Texans.

So now we lost Wade Phillips for the next two games against the Panthers and Colts - two games that will be played over four days (Sunday and Thursday). How many more hits will the Texans keep taking? Unbelievable. The injury report isn't just limited to the players on this team.

And there was talk of Wade Phillips wanting another head coaching job after this season. It was reported on Monday that Wade Phillips will be interested in any head coaching vacancies and that a few NFL teams will be interested in him. I hope Bob McNair gives him a hefty pay raise. He was already the highest-paid defensive coordinator in the league, but to assure he stays, he'll have to get a salary that is equal to what Gary Kubiak is making.

Inb4 the "win one for the gipper speech" and the Texans blow out the Panthers and Colts, giving Wade Phillips the game ball.

Reggie Herring will get the job done. Next man up!!!!!

Wsup Biggie. And I hope Wade knows what's good for him. Highest paid DC in the league, and he's not a good HC.

And also his health may factor into his decision. Being a head coach will be even more stress on him and at his age, not sure if he can handle it. He has a good thing going with the Texans - don't leave that.

True, I don't really see him going anywhere after this season. He expressed alot of gratitude to Bob Mcnair about signing him to such a generous deal and so quickly after his Donald Trump like firing. I think he realizes that DC is where it's at for him. If he goes to another team to head coach then he will have the same problem he had with the Cowboys. Not enough time to focus everything he has to the offense and the defense, he needs to just be concerned about one side of the football. Let the Offensive coordinator (and/or head coach as it may be) take care of that side of the ball. Wade may just be a front man for what our players are really doing. But I don't really believe that in one season that a defense can go from the worst of all time, to the best in the league without some help from a new system. I think that taking away one of our biggest weakness (arguably the DT personnel), and adding another strength of our team in the form of an extra Linebacker position to our defense is testimony to the better decisions our team is making going forward. And I believe they will continue this good decision making by making Wade happy with either a bigger salary, or a lengthier contract.

Great video.

That TD to Joel, great play. Stole the fake pretty damn good, and there was Joel wide open for the TD.
