Having such a high-paid backup is not ideal. In a perfect world the Jags would trade Foles, because it would make sense financially and looking towards the future, assuming Minshew continues on the same trajectory. But like you said, Foles could be forced back into a starting position even with a slight or no decline in play from Minshew.
I don't necessarily think that Foles is bad, but yea, the ceiling is higher with Minshew and the floor is higher with Foles, at least for now. 5 weeks is not a lot of time though, so it'd be best to reevaluate after the season. I'm rooting for ya!

Foles can't come off IR until week 11, at the earliest. So Minshew will still have at least another 4-5 games to continue to show what he can do. Hopefully he continues to ball out and Foles never takes another snap for us again.
Saints this Sunday which will be a tough game.
But then we got the Bengals, then the Jets, then the Texans in London, followed by the Bye week.
