Chad Johnson would like to get back in the NFL with the Texans, or with anybody, reallyChad Johnson, the former Ochocinco, is trying very, very hard to get back in the NFL game. And although he's 35 years old, ancient in wide-receiver years, he's still a six-time Pro Bowler, and believes he has something to contribute to an NFL team. Let's hear him out, shall we?
"I would love to get a second chance to play the game that I love," Johnson recently told Comcast SportsNet Houston. He acknowledged that his off-field issues, including an arrest for domestic battery last year, have severely dented his prospects. He hasn't played since being cut by the Dolphins prior to the 2012 season. Still, he hopes he has something to offer:
"I'm in no position to be picky," he said. "There are not very many people who get second chances. I think I've been good to the NFL and for the NFL ... at this point, I've learned my lesson and tried to right all my wrongs. I am human."
Since he was in Houston making the comments, he zeroed in on the Texans. Houston wide receiver Andre Johnson was a former high school rival and opponent of Chad Johnson's. While Andre Johnson has said he'd speak on Ocho's behalf to the Texans management, it's going to be very difficult for Chad Johnson to persuade an NFL team to take a chance on him, both because of talent and because of baggage. But there's always hope.
