Oh man, I had no idea this thread existed. What's up Bucs fans! I'm a regular on most every Bucs football forum but don't really talk much football on here. That's about to change now  ;)

So much to talk about, I'll just go over a few of my thoughts though.

Our offense, especially if we address RT sometime in the near future, or if by some miracle Meredith or Dotson ever evolve into more than a serviceable starter, is pretty much set. Our defense, especially our line, lost two important cogs in its #1 rush defense. Losing Bennett doesn't set us back much when Bowers is poised to take the reigns (remember, he was slotted to go #1 overall before injury concerns), but when you factor in that Daniel T'eo-Nesheim is gonna be getting a significant amount of snaps per game as the #3 end, probably 20-30, then it begins to sting a lot more.

Losing Roy Miller won't hurt near as much. He was a great run stopping 1-tech his last year here, but his pass rush was non-existent and no one we start there can be worse at disrupting the pass. And it's much more of a passing league these days, so I'm fine with getting someone a little less stout against the run if he's in the QB's face more often. That being said, we can't go all out and find another 3-tech to play alongside McCoy. That'd be disastrous for the type of defense Sheridan runs.

We also need to address the corner situation, because if we don't, we're starting Danny freakin' Gorrer opening day. I don't mean just trading for Revis... if that falls through, we need to sign or draft someone else. It's a buyers market for Free Agency this year, and I'm still puzzled why some players left out there are struggling to find deals that would get paid quickly past free agency periods.

Welcome only a few of us are bucs fans... maybe about 5 :).

Yea this free agency period definitely had me puzzled to say the least as they have not addressed the main needs or resigned anyone that I felt they could possibly keep. One thing is as much as we know, the FO and coaching staff are not blind and they see the shortcomings as well. They have a plan and supposedly did not view this FA corner crop anything special (which I agree). It will definitely be interesting to see what happens come draft time and it seems as if they are determined to get Revis. One thing I fear tho is when that happens it will cause some salary cap problems in the future and we may not be able to retain some of our homegrown talent.

I agree as you said we can't get another Undertackle or 3 tech guy we need a nose tackle. I've been looking at alot of the guys in the draft some intriguing prospects are Slyvester Williams has decent size for NT and is probably best pass rushing NT in draft, Jesse Williams, or Brandon Williams, and Montori Hughes. These guys mostly can be had in rounds 2nd and later which is great as we can address other needs in the 1st as this draft is particularly loaded with DT's. Obviously my favorite would be Star Loutuleilei but I doubt he makes it to 13.

that's another point - Schiano and staff have a damn good knowledge of alotta of these draftees and like last year, have an advantage in having gameplanned against some of these guys.- guys that caught coaches eyes and we can once again get some serious talent outa this draft

Offseason Schedule Coming Into Focus

The Bucs will begin their 2013 offseason workout program on Tax Day, with 10 OTA days to follow, beginning in May, and a final three-day mandatory mini-camp in the middle of June

If April 15 is the last day for many Americans to square up their taxes, it's also the first day for Tampa Bay Buccaneer players to start making payments in sweat equity.

The Buccaneers' offseason workouts begin on that mid-April Monday, kicking off a nine-week program that is split into three phases and concludes with a three-day mini-camp in June.  While the mini-camp is mandatory for all players, every other aspect of the program is voluntary for veterans, and no live contact is permitted at any point during the offseason

All teams were required to submit their finalized offseason schedule to the NFL by Monday, including a starting day for workouts, the specific dates for organized team activity days (OTAs) and any mini-camp information.  All teams are allowed one three-day mandatory mini-camp, and teams with new head coaches are also afforded a second three-day voluntary mini-camp.

Quite a few teams will be starting their offseason program on Tax Day, including NFC South foes Carolina and New Orleans (Atlanta is starting a week later).  The teams with new head coaches can begin earlier, and many are kicking off their workouts next Tuesday.  This is called Phase One of the program under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and it only includes strength and conditioning activities and physical rehabilitation.

Phase One lasts just two weeks.  In Phase Two, coaches may join the players on the field for, as the NFL describes it, "individual player instruction and drills as well as team practiced conducted on a 'separates' basis."  That is, the various positions can work individually, and the offense and defense may drill as units, but the offense cannot go against the defense.

Phase Three consists of the 10 OTAs allotted to each team.  These may be spread out anywhere over the course of a four-week period, not including the weekends.  The Buccaneers will hold their OTAs on May 20-21, May 23, May 29-31, June 3-4 and June 6-7.  The OTAs are a team's opportunity to hold more structured practices, such as the ones conducted during training camp and the regular season.  Again, no live contact is permitted, but teams may run 7-on-7, 9-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills pitting offense against defense.

Phase Three also includes the aforementioned mandatory mini-camp, which for the Buccaneers will fall on June 11-13.  As usual, this will be the conclusion of the offseason program, after which players will get an extended break before the start of training camp in July.  The Buccaneers have not yet announced their training camp dates.

The above program does not include the "rookie football development program" that teams are also afforded after the draft.  This year, that seven-week program will begin on May 13, though teams are also allowed to hold a rookie mini-camp on one of the two weekends that follows the draft.  Those rookie camp dates have not been released yet.

The 2013 NFL Draft is scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, April 25-27.

So we signed Steve Smith from NYG. Now we'll have a formidable slot receiver to add to the 1 - 2 of VJax, and Williams. Did anyone see if we picked up ne tight ends yet?

they signed Smith wr, Kaeding kickr, Derek Landri DT, Brian Leonard HB/FB, and.... Geroge Selvie De. They are likely not starters besides Landri but ehh its competition and thats what schiano wanted to do is bring in some competition so no one feels safe with their job.

the story i read on smith was that he had surgery a few seasons ago, and hadnt come back into form at philly and st louis. but if he does, then he'll def have that no. 3 spot. he did have 1400 yards 3 seasons ago. if he can get back into shape, him and vjax may both put up 1k yards, opening up the field for each other, perhaps williams as well... or so im hoping.

well he has another important quality we desparately need. a ring. we need high level experienced players to lead and guide.
vjax may be a top 5 nfl receiver, but outside of probowls, he doesnt have next level exp. not many palyers on the bucs do.
