I maintain that if we get rid of Blount, he becomes a starter and has another 1k+ season. I fear letting him go, same with Freeman - we let him go, he then turns into that elite QB

Well with the amount of talent around Freeman, he shouldn't have such a problem with being an elite qb. Frankly a lot of the elite qb's, start out with terrible receivers, backs, and TE's, and still excel.
Not gonna say Freeman blows or nothing, I'm a "Free man" ho ho ho har har ha lol. Nah I just wished that the talent he's got on offense would translate into an 11-5+ season.

another offseason to work in that offense and now he has months to build off of last season with douggernaut, vjax & Co.

eliminate the unnecessary mistakes and find a way to avoid that late season slump and the bucs are playoff bound imo

So it seems the Jets have purposed the deal for Revis to TB. They want first and second round picks THIS season. TB says, nah, you can have a first and second rounder NEXT year. Everyone's saying Revis is one of the most prolific CB's in all of football... maybe in the last decade. But coming off a major surgery, he's not worth a first, second rounder, and 15 million a year if you ask me. Maybe a 2nd this year, and a first next, and 10 mil/year.

Absolutely, positively must find some answers in the secondary or they are fucked. The offense produced enough last year to get them to the playoffs, in my opinion (at times), but they simply cannot overcome their shitty pass defense.

Offense could get a little better with Ogletree, which is nice, but I just hope they have good scouting for CBs.

IMO if we have more help from whoever is next to McCoy, we should have a fucktonne more sacks next year.

McCoy requires doubleteam
Clayborne will probably require double team
Bowers has the speed and strength to beat a 1-on-1

If we draft that DT at 13, we suddenly have 2 DTs that require double manning - leaving both Ends for 1on1, and if either of them get double manned, we then have the speed of Lavonte David / Mark Barron coming into the box, or we have Mason Foster charging like a beast.

Suddenly our 2ndry looks awesome because Qbs have no time to throw. Watching last season back, McCoy is so often within a nats crotchet of sacking the QB it's unreal - give him another second per play, there gonna be sacks.

Oh man, I had no idea this thread existed. What's up Bucs fans! I'm a regular on most every Bucs football forum but don't really talk much football on here. That's about to change now ;)

So much to talk about, I'll just go over a few of my thoughts though.

Our offense, especially if we address RT sometime in the near future, or if by some miracle Meredith or Dotson ever evolve into more than a serviceable starter, is pretty much set. Our defense, especially our line, lost two important cogs in its #1 rush defense. Losing Bennett doesn't set us back much when Bowers is poised to take the reigns (remember, he was slotted to go #1 overall before injury concerns), but when you factor in that Daniel T'eo-Nesheim is gonna be getting a significant amount of snaps per game as the #3 end, probably 20-30, then it begins to sting a lot more.

Losing Roy Miller won't hurt near as much. He was a great run stopping 1-tech his last year here, but his pass rush was non-existent and no one we start there can be worse at disrupting the pass. And it's much more of a passing league these days, so I'm fine with getting someone a little less stout against the run if he's in the QB's face more often. That being said, we can't go all out and find another 3-tech to play alongside McCoy. That'd be disastrous for the type of defense Sheridan runs.

We also need to address the corner situation, because if we don't, we're starting Danny freakin' Gorrer opening day. I don't mean just trading for Revis... if that falls through, we need to sign or draft someone else. It's a buyers market for Free Agency this year, and I'm still puzzled why some players left out there are struggling to find deals that would get paid quickly past free agency periods.

I still wouldn't be against the idea of purely going Defense in this draft, and getting 3 DTs and 5 Corners - why not? There's a deep draft in both of these positions - and Schiano is all about moulding players into the next level - i'm simply yet to see it xD
