Felt dead to watch the Raiders just play like absolute shit.
There's good stuff to take away though. Now Raiders just have to pray Carr never gets hurt again cause otherwise we are fucked.
Or maybe this off season they should try and improve our depth so that injuries don't ruin our season as hard. I'd imagine WR core stays mostly the same, might see some change at TEs but Murray could be on his way out and the Raiders move on to something else.
The secondary is something is still a problem. We need to have Nosdoom de age like 12 years and join back on the team and also get Rod Woodson de age like 15 years.
Nosdoom? You mean Nnamdi?
We have pass covering talent. I'm thinking it's a scheme issue. We tend to cover WRs alright but struggle against RBs and (especially) TEs. Either means our safeties aren't picking up the right guys or our LBs can't cover...which really comes down to MLB. Going into the last draft I said it was a top priority (after S, which we addressed) and the lack of attention there was one reason I was disappointed by our draft (which turned out better than I thought it would). Going into this draft, our board looks a little different, with MLB > DT/RB (pending some personnel results).
Pass rush being stronger will help us...this season we really only had pressure from Mack/Irvin, but with Edwards Jr. returning from injury we should be able to generate a lot more pressure. We just need to find some way to cover TEs and tighten up the safety play OR to go full Andy Reid Eagles and just blitz everything every down. Depth at the DT position will open up more inside moves to create more complex blitz packages and force teams into obvious passing downs, which is where we've excelled on defense. A great MLB will help in run defense as well as pass coverage on the TE, allowing our safeties to play more aggressively for pass instead of having to worry about the run as much.
On offense we're pretty set, and I think we're alright even if Murray leaves (he probably won't tho). DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard were pretty productive and I figure with one more RB we can make it work via committee with this sick nasty OL.
But yeah, QB injuries will fuck almost any team, and this team harder than almost any other.
