what is this...

"I'd rather take a starter over a backup," Gene Smith, when asked why he took Anger over a DT who could fit into the rotation. #Jaguars

I watched the Jags lose 2 games because of punting last year with the Matt Turk experiment. We needed a Punter bad and I have no problems with the pick.

Anger is right that he’s generally recognized as the best punter out there, after a college career in which he averaged 43.5 yards a punt and had 90 punts inside the 20-yard line. So if there’s an NFL team looking for a player with a strong leg and a strong opinion of his own pro prospects, Anger is the man.

Jags have so many needs to sit around and do this. Guy has to be the best punter in 25 years to justify the pick. It is fine to address the position but in the third round... Highest position for a punter in the draft since the early 90s...

So many needs? Really? The only needs we have now are to add depth. We got our WR and our Pass Rushing DE. Those were our 2 huge needs. We can use another CB, which there is still plenty. Now we add depth, which is what rounds 4-7 are all about...

Most people see a bad record and don't realize that teams can get stricken by injuries, such as the Rams and Jags were last season. I think they could have traded back and still grabbed Anger, but to say they have huge holes all over is just stupid.

I agree that they probably drafted him a little early. I don't deny that one single bit. Who's to say they wait a little and trade back, only to have somebody else snag him? That may not have happened, but you never know how these drafts can play out. If you love the guy, you take him and don't look back.

We had over 30 guys on IR last year lol. We were at the point, that we had to cut guys off of IR, just to put more guys on IR because we were at the Max Roster limit LOL.

Jags were 32 in offense and have no receivers who can get open. They had problems with pass protection. They had a strong defense but cannot generate any pressure. Those are huge problems that don't get fixed by picking up two players. The jags need depth at corner and the third round would have been a good place to do it with some of the corners available.

It is more than just the record that leads me to believe they have several huge holes. When a team struggles with multiple key aspects of football, there are glaring problems that need to be addressed.

Blackmon, Robinson, Thomas, Evans, Shorts and xxxx will be the WRs this year. We now have the best WR Coach in the League, by FAR. He will coach these guys up. There's a reason the WR coach we had last year got fired before the season was even over. He was a joke. We had guys like Jarret Dillard, Chastin West and Taylor Price out there for us last season at WR. Our WR core will look completely different this year.

Lane, Chick, Morgan and Kampman were on IR (They're DEs). Kampman is w.e, he might be cut, Morgan is a Pass Rusher, Chick is a Pass Rusher, but he will probably start the year on the PUP list. Lane is 100% and admits he needs to improve in his Pass Rushing. His strength is against the Run. Mincey was resigned.

Cox, Middleton, Mathis all were on IR at CB. We signed Ross, still have Coleman and Rutland. Rutland will be in his 2nd year, showed flashes last year. Coleman is a solid slot/nickle Corner. Cox is a starter and Middleton is a solid back up who can play anywhere (left, right, or slot/nickle) and is a great Special Teamer. Ross and Mathis will battle for the other starting CB spot. Heath will be entering his 2nd year this season. Youboty will probably be cut.

Britton was on IR with a freak back infection after his surgery, Haslem was on IR, but they let him go. Resigned Whimper (he was the 3rd string RT, but had to start due to injuries. Can play either G and/or OT). Rackley will be entering his 2nd year. Resigned Will Robinson for depth (He was on IR last year as well I believe). Spitz is being groomed to eventually take over for Meester at Center. He can play C and G. Bradfield will be entering his 2nd year and can play either OT position.

Monroe is a top 10 LT. Rackley came from a small school and started to pick it up at the end of the season. He'll continue to be our starting LG. Meester can still play and will be the starting C. Nwaneri is a good RG and will continue to start there. Britton is rumored to be 100% healthy and should take back over at RT, where he was drafted at. Besides Whimper giving up a league high 15 sacks, our OL wasn't completely horrible. They had horrible times, but some of that was Gabbert and some was the shitty OC and some was bad OL play.

We had so many rookies and 2nd year players starting last year because of injuries. What are you going to do this draft, if we drafted a bunch of guys to replace those rookies from last year. When the rookies we draft this year struggle and aren't instantly great players. You going to want to draft their replacements again next year? We have a very young team. Guys need time to develop, especially the ones who came from smaller schools.

The Jacksonville Jaguars waived six players today, including veteran running back Deji Karim, the club announced. Also waived were linebacker JoJo Dickson, linebacker Stephen Franklin, linebacker Jammie Kirlew, defensive back Trumaine McBride and kicker Sam Swank.
