Earlier this month, Jerry Jones didn’t try to sugar-coat the situation at safety. “I think we’re unproven,” the owner said. Gone is Gerald Sensabaugh, who retired. Remaining are a bunch of players who are relatively inexperienced, and Will Allen, a free-agent acquisition who has started nine games in the last six seasons. Allen will compete for a starting safety spot with Matt Johnson (37), who was never active in his rookie campaign after injuring both hamstrings. During OTAs, Johnson has been lining up next to Barry Church (42), who tore his right Achilles tendon last September and has since recovered. He figures to reprise his role as a starter, saying, “The job is mine to lose, and I don’t plan on losing it.”

Damn, I hope Johnson wins the job.

Dwayne Harris (17) is fighting for the Cowboys’ No. 3 receiver job. Though Harris had 17 catches for 222 yards over the Cowboys' last seven games in 2012, Dallas used a third-round pick on Baylor receiver Terrance Williams. All Williams did last season was lead the nation with 1,832 receiving yards. Williams’ college credentials make him a favorite to land the job, but Harris doesn’t plan to fade into the background. Harris is taking first-team repetitions at punt returner in organized team activities, but Tuesday, when Dallas used its two-minute offense, he didn’t get on the field, as Williams served as the No. 3 receiver. “Every year, you have to fight for your job,” Harris said

Also looks like Williams might be the favorite for the #3 WR spot. I think we may have a top receiving core this year boys.

-e Not to mention, we've got 1 HoF tight end and 2 new, developing guys behind him.

Anthony Spencer and the Cowboys are giving up on contract talks for a while. He wants to be paid like Paul Kruger, which would be fine by me if he has a great year this year. At the present moment though, I don't think he's earned that kind of money. Then again, JJ seems to love to overpay, so we'll see what happens.

I was watching the Dallas Cowboys "hard knocks" on the NFL Network. It was from pre-season in 2008
Danny Amendola was trying to make the team but he got cut. Fumbled the ball twice on kickoff returns.
Terrell Owens was still a beast. A young Tony Romo had so much poise and swagger.
That was the training camp after they went 13-3 in 2007 and had the 1st seed in the NFC Playoffs.
They were closer to a Super Bowl back then than they are now.
