from the point of the accusations and onward, the dislike grew for him

even things like his religion "oh I'll thank God and point to the sky after every touchdown", was attacked because of how fake it felt

for Deshaun Watson to have not 2 (like Ben) but 22 sexual assault allegations, that is not going to just go away - in anybody's mind

the reality is that he most likely assaulted those women. in what universe does a qb (star qb nonetheless) have to dm random women for massages when he has literally the best trainers NFL money can buy?

e/ like.. the FIRST thing the team did was address that the signing would be seen in a difficult light "mostly from women" because, surprise surprise, nobody wants a rapist for a quarterback - everybody on camera looked ashamed

Ben was a very arrogant person coming into the league. He got married and changed as a person. Multiple teammates have mentioned how he grew into a totally different person in the latter half of his career.

Not to mention a lot of beloved all time greats have done some pretty heinous things that were actually proven. LT for example.

That's well and good and I wasn't trying to bash him, really. Just pointing out that people don't forget about those things, and Ben was the most relatable example I could find (young star qb w sexual assault allegations).

And people/teammates saying he has changed only acknowledges that there were indeed wrongdoings, enforcing what I said that people don't forget

E/ Nobody knows the truth with these things except the people involved but the damage is done with just allegations

Sports fans are ruthless. Look at how much hate Rodgers and Brady get and they have never done anything remotely fucked up. I agree that Watson will get shit on about this for the rest of his career and even well after. Players back in the day got lucky there was no social media.

C+ probably, I don't love the approach, but seems that the new FO will try to see what we have with our current roster (the roster that hasn't worked well in the past 4 years) and see who they want to build and who will be replaced. I think next year is when the team will have major shakeup



Zadarius Smith is a great signing and will keep us competitive with him and Hunter being the face of the defense. But we still have plenty of holes at defense and they are all old. So a complete rebuild of the defense will still be needed. Need to hope we hit on draft picks or it won't be pretty.
