1. They had two timeouts and 3 downs. So obviously one of those plays the clock has to stop without a timeout.

2) Play action handoff would freeze the defense and roll out to the area would extend the play long enough to either throw it, throw it away, or because you have Russel Wilson as a QB, RUN it into the endzone.
3) Although I agree with the general premise that any throw could result in an interception, there are PHYSICAL limitations on how a defender (without getting a penalty) can defend a corner fade in the endzone. There is an area where it is PHYSICALLY impossible for a defender to cover, and too error on throwing it deep, rather than short, would be a less risky pass. Remember these are professionals, not college, HS, or backyard QB's.
