When you have that many holes, rebuilding is not a one draft thing.  It's a long-term commitment, 3-5 years if you do it right.  And that means you don't go scrambling for a quick fix quarterback, you take what the draft gives you 'cuz you need everything.  This year, the draft gives you defense.  Take defense, accept another losing year, and wait for a good QB draft.  It's not the popular choice, but it's the right choice.

This team is way closer then 3-5 years (unless you're counting this current season as the first year of 3). Hell if we get a solid QB in this draft, it could turn around next year. Realistically though, we're 2 more drafts away from being a playoff team (this up coming draft and the following one).

What are your team's strengths? I'd say you're closer to the 5 end of the spectrum than the 3 end. The Raiders are 3-5 years out as well (hard to say, depends on development of our young QBs).

If you have a HC and GM who know what they're doing, it doesn't take 5 years to turn around a Franchise. The teams that are constantly at the bottom every year, are there for a reason. Because they go through HCs and GMs like they're going out of style.

To refresh your memory, Gabbert came up outta no where and was being considered a top draft pick at the end of the season/combine as well... We all know how that turned out. It's a QB league so people will always be looking to over rank QBs. I worry about QBs who jump up the charts at the end of the year.

If Barr is gone, we'll take Khalil Mack and wont look back. Either will fit our LEO position perfect.

Gabbert was similar to Bortles this year, highly regarded underclassmen overshadowed by higher regarded underclassmen. However, with a weak senior QB class and those other underclassmen staying in school, there's a helluva lot more room to drop than rise by staying in school. You could make the case Bortles isn't even a top-5 underclassmen QB, but he could be the 2nd best declaring.

Bridgewater is the only QB I'd take in the top of the 1st round. There's way too many top Defensive prospects up there to reach and over draft a QB not named Bridgewater in the top 10.

I haven't watched every game cutup of Carr, but I've seen a couple and he seems to get rattled under pressure. Blitz/Hit him a few times and he starts rushing his throws and gets some happy feet. Reminds me a whole lot of Gabbert honestly. Carr has put up pretty good numbers, but plays terrible competition.

I'd rather have somebody like A.J. McCarron in round 2, or even better round 3 (or even later would just be that much better). Rather then possibly over drafting someone like Carr and pass on a Barr or Mack. McCarron may have the "game manager" label, but he's a Senior. Has won over 36 games in 3 years, while playing in the best Conference in the country.

Bridgewater is far and away the most talented QB in this class but if jobs are on the line QBs will continue to go early. Not a fan of McCarron, he's just like his predecessors(McElroy/Parker-Wilson). Makes more sense for the Jags to take a risk on someone with upside than a guy whose best case scenario is a poor mans Alex Smith.

You wait 3-5 years for a QB and you're out of a job as a GM/HC. If teams believe Carr/Manziel/Bortles/etc are franchise guys they will go very early.

When you've been watching Chad "2 Picks" Henne for the past 2 years... A game manager would be a welcome upgrade at this point honestly.

In the last three games against the Texans he has thrown for 710 passing yards with 6 TDs and 0 INTs. Not too shabby if I may say so myself.

So I'm watching game cutups of Eastern Illinois QB Jimmy Garoppolo. First thing that instantly stands out is he has a very quick release.

Very quick. Small hands though, could be an issue. You can see the short QBs make it work now, not many small handed ones but I'm in love with the kid so no worries here for now lol.

Just by virtue of sheer number of positions needed...yeah, it does. Unless you get incredibly lucky and have some amazing development and have buttfucks of cash for FA's, it's gonna take 3 years to go from shit to playoff-ready.
