Well I’m in jersey so maybe it’s only here but their work is just atrocious and it’s not a knock on them. They get paid pretty good but the training is a joke if there is any.

Trust me I agree but like sheriff just said they mess up and the people usually call the “expensive guys” that they originally turned down. I’m a lineman so my training with residential is minuscule compared to the inside guys but it’s still imo far more than these guys

Yeah I'm an "inside guy" as you call it lol and the sheet rockers and people we work with now and again can hardly speak English let alone perform any kind of electrical work.

Trust me there’s times like today I wish I went the other way lol... climbing in 4 degree weather makes me feel 5 times older. All the inside guys I worked with were cool as fuck though

Yeah usually it's not bad, not outside a ton, only shitty inside work is when you get the rat infested crawls or attics lol had a tick dug into my chest the other day when I came out of one, nice surprise

It pisses me off they drive down prices with inferior work and end up fucking peoples houses up big time. Most average non construction people don't realize that especially here in michigan is not for looks as much as its for waterproofing and is just as important as a roof to shed water. I get all kinds of leak issues i get called for, especially where a roof line meets a wall and the siders either cut the kick out flashing the roofer installed, or they just did a shitty job running the channel and the water flows right behind the siding. Same thing with bottoms of windows if they aren't flashed properly. It just rots houses. They usually end up aying me he difference in the long run, or more if I have to replace sheeting and insulation and framing that's rotten. 2-4 guys at $50/hr adds up quick, and I pay my help $25/hr for repairs so I make $25/hr off them too on those days. If I have 4 guys on site, I profit $125/hr in labor alone not counting any materials.

We didnt work this week. I paid all my guys $400 and gave them week off due to the cold, but I made Saturday mandatory since the weather is going to break, and I'll pay them time and a half cash for the ones who show up...lol
I'm happy that I only have a couple houses left to do and then I'll be inside and not have the weather fuck with my income. We miss a day a week easily due to weather.

Not really, they fucked up the prices here. When I was consistently getting $150 a square average, I could pay my guys $25/hr and still make like 900 a day if we put on 10 square with 3 of them helping and me paying them $200 a day each, and that's not counting the $3/ft of soffit and fascia, that is usually about 300ft per house which adds another 900 overall to my paycheck when the job is done, so I make a lot more for just a plain job, let alone a job that we have to wrap windows and doors with custom bent aluminum. I get $75 per window and $125 per door, and I do that myself while the guys are hanging siding. Now my new mission is to get 3 Lebron signatures for my new store for a customer. 16x20 photos of him in heat lakers and cavs uniforms for this rich guy to put in his man cave. I'll get selfies if I get to meet him and send you one.
