Wages are stagnant, the cost of living has gone up, therefore the min. Wage should be increased, it's really not complicated.

But do you believe that prices such as groceries, restaurants, consumer goods etc won't raise as soon as the companies producing the goods have to pay out more for their employees? Those companies aren't going to keep their prices the same and just eat the profits they've been getting

It's called federal regulations/laws which can fix some of that. Right now we have little to no regulation, corporations are raking in record profits (thanks to Trump's tax scam) and ceo's are getting massive bonuses while the poor get poorer/minimum wages stay the same.
