Jones told a group of reporters Sunday that three losses have left him in tears as owner of the Cowboys. The first was a 1995 NFC Championship defeat in San Francisco that kept them from a three-peat. The second was the 2002 season opener in Houston, when they lost to the expansion Texans in their new state-of-the-art facility.
The third was the Giants loss. The Cowboys were 13-3 and division champs that season. They had the lead entering the fourth quarter until a Brandon Jacobs touchdown run proved to be the difference.

“That’s where I went to the place I used to go to when they would call and tell me that I had just lost all of my money on a dry hole,” Jones recalled this weekend at the NFL Combine.
Jerry wasn’t broke, but he remained without a playoff win for the 11th consecutive year. The Cowboys finally won a postseason game two seasons later, their first since the Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin days. It’s been downhill ever since.
